‘Race to the Rock’ is a no-nonsense, ultra-rugged, do-it-yourself biking challenge from Brisbane to Uluru. It’s a person’s solo fight against Mother Nature, the clock, and probably some very persistent flies.

And probs some camels, dingos…maybe a few king browns.

The “About” section on the Facebook page, with good god warnings that the route contains “very rugged and remote sections that are extremely dangerous for unprepared or inexperienced bike tourers” and “if you get into trouble, you will need to find a way out” has not deterred ole Willy.

Sigh.

Blog updates. Probs won’t be daily. Come what may.

It’s gonna be a slog.

A pretty scenery ‘wow we live in an awesome country’ sorta slog, though.

“Worth every moment. Harder the better”, said the man, not crying in the middle of the desert, yet.

Willy’s doing the Entree (Brisbane to Rockhampton) and the Main (Rockhampton to Yulara).

Entree and Main? Glutton, if you ask the moderator.
