Return of the “Only Fans” Dot-watching extravaganza. 2750kms
Just checked out the Telstra coverage map.
Pretty slim.
Connection will be in and out like a naughty dog.
So here ’tis.
The first of many sporadic blog updates for Willy Maykit as he traverses this beautiful countryside yet again.
Race to the Rock 2024.
This time top to bottom.
A little shorter. But tougher. No connection. So communication will be thin.
He’s gonna need some big desert muscles to get through this one.
Crocodile creek crossings. No joke. 600km stretch without supply options. No easy water supply.
Luckily, he’s been watching Alone Australia.
Gteed he’s doing this to flex his riding acumen, and my bike is faster than yours feels, in front of his “Only Fans“, Mario at work.
Why?
Oh, the why.
A wise woman* once said, “YES! You do these rides for those who can’t do them anymore”.
Todd is doing this personal challenge with a respectful nod to Chris Barker, aka Cave Man, an IPWR legend.
Sad news aside, we keep pedalling.
And we peddle strong.
Willy’s hooked up an easier way to share photos, and emotions, this time round. So the blog posts will still come through when the dot-watching juices express themselves and of course when Telstra says it can be so.
Four (4) days to go. Start time is 6.22am this Saturday.
If you’re keen to dot watch, and wish to offer words of encouragement as he inhales desert bush flies big as horses, traverses corrugated red dirt trails speaking “I’m talking into a fan” language and possibly has relations with a scorpion or two in his bivvy, I know he’d love that.
The last of those three things in particular.
Some last minute humble fank-hoos.
Currumbin Cycles. Kane, Tink, Guy and Ethan.
Jeez. Talk about generous souls.
Tink tinkering around with his last-minute parts and Guy always going above and beyond when Todd does these *ucked up rides.
What was it tonight? I think we left at 7pm.
Thanks Guy.
Enough said.
Let this soul-finding adventure begin.
Go Willy!
*Thank you Betty!
Keep the laughs coming ……….

Go Willy! Love that you can do all this despite the risk of intimate contact with scorpions! ( thanks for the visuals Betty!????) Impressive background support from team Willy!
The bush flies are excellent sources of protein and fibre.
