Ready to fly thanks to Currumbin Cycles Ridley Remedial Services. Including drilling the frame.

The ole Ridley was a bit of a mess after some pretty heavy training sessions. Sweat-eaten bar tape and the damage list goes on.

Luckily, around the corner from where I live, I’ve got a great bike shop owned by a bloke called Kane Simpson – apparently not too shabby on the bike himself.

I’m not the most mechanically minded so Kane and his right-hand man, Guy ( who says he’s even better than Kane at cycling – shhh), have been really patient in helping me get decked out for this big adventure.

Currumbin Cycles also has a handful of other cycling experts that are always at the ready to help when I stuff something up on my bike.

I’ve been annoying them with my questions for around 5 years now. I’m surprised they don’t run away when they see me coming.

There was a lot of wear and tear when I dropped it into them yesterday. Through the service, the whole bike was stripped down and rebuilt with fresh new parts. They replaced a whole swag of bike components – gear cable, chainrings, chain, cassette, bottom bracket, rear wheel bearings, brake pads, brake rotors, bar tape and tyres. I am tired just thinking about it. I feel like I’ve got a brand new bike now! A massive thank you to Kane for your generosity over the years and for the support and encouragement since the IndyPac dream started two years ago. This little pink beast of a bike would not be as awesome as it is without your guidance and help. Until next time.

Pedal hard. Cheers – Willy Maykit.
