DAY THREE – 165KM – COOLGARDIE TO NORSEMAN – CASHIE KEPT ME GOING

Another hard slog for Willy Maykit.

165KM seems like a walk in the park after the last two days but there were no roses to smell today either.

Two nights on concrete can’t be good for the soul. Or for the arse cheeks.

Early in the morning, leaving the cockroaches devouring the rest of his pie, Willy decides to ‘split this joint’ and get out of Coolgardie quick smart.

Aside from a lack of sleep, and finding it hard to eat, the morning conditions were good and he was grateful to have made the decision to just get up and keep on pedalling.

It was an emotional few KMs. He says the harsh, dry land around him soaked in a few buckets of his tears.

He’s done plenty of reading about other IPWR riders and about how there will be times through the ride where thoughts will be overwhelming.

The Binky reference is about a past rider doing tours of all the pools I think. Will need to research that.

The night has ended with Danny Paven (Subsonic) rolling into town.

Willy Maykit was feeling super cooked and wasn’t keen on sharing digs tonight. Sleep deprivation can make a selfish bastard of you he admits. But the IPWR spirit got the better of him and they’re both bunking in the same motel room and depending on the body will roll out together, or maybe Danny earlier, from Norsemen when the time is right.
