No communication other than a call when he hit a pocket of 4G (thank you Telstra!) at around the 1640km mark.
Surprisingly, he’s super tired.
Haha.
One will do these challenges, won’t one?!
I watched his dot fly past a known permanent water station and that got me worried.
Every skerrick of water needs to be added to the supply you already have.
He tells me quickly though, of the generosity of some travellers from Wagga Wagga.
No idea of the deets as reception was crap but you could hear in his voice how grateful he was.
They gave him some icey cold water.
Thank you Wagga Wagga peoples!
Other than that all I got was…
The “roads are shit”.
And “what day is it”?
Sheesh.
Right now it’s around 3pm in the NT. Day 8.
He’s averaged just over 200km a day.
Considering the dirt roads, I’m amazed.
Ok so it’s dark soon.
The plan is to get to the Granite Mine Camp and camp for a bit there.
Not sure if there’s supplies at all but he has some porridge?
Next gteed food and water supply stop is Yuendumu 250km away.
That’s a loooooong time between lunches.
I’m hoping he hits Yuendumu in the day time on Monday (can’t see him making it any earlier than Monday) not just to ensure he can get to the shops.
But to hopefully explore some of the Aboriginal artwork this little community is known for.
Not sure art showings will be on Willy’s mind, though?
Unless it’s edible art.
There’s another tiny pocket of 4G coming up by the looks of the Telstra Coverage Map so I hope to hear from him then before the night is out.
I’m watching all the other riders as well and hope their spirits are as positive as they can be.
All so gutsy.
Not just about you, Willy! Haha.
April is amazing. Does she ever sleep? I love watching her whereabouts. Unbelievable she’s happily riding this on her own.
Erinn and Steve are super strong in the saddle.
They make it look so eassssssy.
No sleep! Every time I see their dots there’s movement.
Freight trains!
Hoping Loz and Rowan get to Billiluna in time for the shop opening tomorrow. Will miss it today now.
And Dale looks to be enjoying a well earned rest after Duncan Road.
Hang in there everyone.
Amazing.
Talk about steely grit and determination!
I can’t even fathom the pain and motivation u have to do this. Proud of u bro xx
To all the riders participating in this ‘nutso’ ride.. massive respect for doing stuff that I thought was impossible for humanoids. Take care and stay safe!
Go Toddy great effort! nearly onto the bitumen, ???? Amazing work so far xx
Astonishing ride by Willy. And ALL the riders are amazing.
