Omeo to Falls Creek Rise - WTF Corner - Indian Pacific Wheel Ride
1

Really, really, really turn left while you’re pushing up what feels like a cliff face

RENOWNED IN THE CYCLING COMMUNITY AS ‘WTF” CORNER – IT COULD ONLY MEAN ONE THING

Way To Falls.

It’s quite the challenge.

Looking now where he is, Mountain Goat Maykit must have had the notorious WTF corner on the IPWR course for morning tea.

Phew.

This lil dot watcher could not watch too much today.

Knowing that “WTF” corner was just around the corner.

Hills too big.

Thoughts of painful knee reconstructions.

Note the plural.

From the elevation profile, it appears as if you have to rock climb up this Everest-like rise, holding on with your fingertips.

And imagine doing that with a fully loaded bike strapped on your back just to get to the other side?

Impressive.

WTF Corner – Choose whichever acronym you please…Way To Falls if you’re feeling pleasant.

After that, he’s still…moving?

Don’t get it.

How is this possible?

It must have been the pies he bought at Omeo Bakery early this morning that fuelled him all this way.

I hope he’s bringing some edible souvenirs home.

I’ll have seven of these please.

SPRUNG! HANDS IN THE LOLLY JAR…

A little sneak peek to see where he was this afternoon found his dot off the IPWR track.

Nooooo.

Lost?

Flaking?

Unable to make it to Beechworth and hanging at Bright instead?

None of the above.

After a little dot watcher investigative google maps ‘where is he’ work, ugly truth was revealed.

Sneaky Mr Maykit was clearing out the entire Ye Olde Lolly Shop in Bright.

Every kid in Bright crying their eyes out.

Inconsolable due to the cyclonic sweet tooth cyclist inhaling the entire lolly shop stock in minutes.

14 minutes in fact.

Proof….

MASSIVE “LESS THAN 1000KM TO GO” MILESTONE TODAY

The finish.

Getting real now.

When he makes it to Beechworth tonight he’ll have just over 900km to go.

The moderator better start thinking about flights.

Not to mention the appropriate outfit that will need to scream “Don’t you know I’m an Overlander Mrs” message.

And oh… the right shade of lippy for the big smooch at the Sydney Opera House.

Needs to be bright – I’m thinking close to fluorescent.

Navigating through that new beard will require quite a bit of illumination.

Talking of beards…

Pic sent of a “Nutella Donut. So good” from Bright…

Straight after devouring the doughnut he headed off for tonight’s homeward stretch to Beechworth.

On the way, he had a great chat with Karen and John and was stopped by a lovely dot-watcher woman called Ange.

Ange gave him some water and a good dose of encouragement.

Serviette would have also been handy.

Zooming in, you’ll see the crumbs of said doughnut remain.

Either that or he’s been eating the bitumen.

Right now I see Willy climbing up the final rise for the day.

So impressed the pink beast built with the help of Currumbin Cycles is still in one piece.

Touch wood. Titanium.

Also impressed his knees remain intact.

About 20km to go and he can tuck into a beer, a lovely meal and hopefully a comfy bed.

What an effort.

From Omeo to Beechworth, some extra random pics below…

Edit: 8:54pm – In the room at Beechworth. Even the bloke on the TV can’t believe the effort today…

Great hosts at Beechworth.

Not sure where he’s staying but looks super cozy.

Check out the fellow’s face on the TV. Funny.

He can’t believe the Willy beard either.

No work has been at the new shop as the boys won’t get off the dot tracker!

Hey Todd, hopefully you’re tucked up in a comfy bed very soon. Just letting you know that you have a comfy bed very close to Monkey Park if you need one. Keep up the super pedalling. We are in awe xx
