Willy got to Telmouth Well around the same time April crossed the finish line at Uluru.

What an incredible endurance rider she is! So amazing.

I have been sending stranger fan-girl high-five congratulations into the ether all afternoon.

Sorry Willy! I’m her fan today!

What a phenomenal endurance athlete.

Todd tells me she’s super lovely as well.

I know how incredibly hard ole Willy has peddled through this gruelling, sleep-depriving event.

And I wondered how someone could get so far in front of everyone in the pack over a short ten day period.

All done so seamlessly. Such a smart rider.

So I looked at the stats today.

Average moving speed.

Willy: 14.3 km/h.

April: 14.0 km/h.

Keh? But Todd still has over 500km to gooooo?

Too many stops/sleeps/rests and you’ve no chance.

New to endurance racing, but after doing IPWR, RtheR2023 and Mallee Blast ole Willy is definitely getting an understanding of what it takes.

It takes a hell of a lot.

It’s not called an endurance event for nuffin.

Being at the 500km mark when the winner takes 1st place must be a little blah for the mental ‘will I ever get there’ energy.

Don’t give up!

Perspective is everything.

This is a 2750km looooooong endurance ride.

That’s two-million, seven hundred and fifty thousand metres.

If it was a 100 metre sprint race, you’re only behind by around 7 seconds.

Haha. True. The data doesn’t lie.

Keep that in mind when you’re pushing through the last 500km to complete what you set out to do.

For yourself. Your goal.

Full Meal RtotheR. It’s in the Maccas bag now Willy.

Not many piccies today.

Guess he had head down peddling to get to Alice to get to the shoppers.

Think he’s missed the big shops. Diggity.

But there’s 24 hour servos so he’ll be right.

He’s been going since about 5.30am.

Must.be.stuffed.

The piccy above was the last of his wraps.

Come on Willy – edge to edge with the spreading, please.

He’s eaten so much peanut butter on this ride.

When he wakes filled with what day is it delirium, mouth dry with that peanut-pastey smell we all love and know soooo well, he needs to pry his tongue away from the top of his mouth.

Itsth thtuck.

OK Willy. Not sure where or what tonight.

Presently about 20kms out of town.

From Alice to Uluru.

There’s still some amazing country in front of you.

Keep pedalling. You seriously are smashing iittttttt.
