I’ll have the express pedi please.
Jeez, Willy.
I beg to differ.
You have wayyyy bigger kankles than me.
Check out the bulgee-ness.
Glad he got to relax in the resort spa today.
He certainly put the hard yards in.
After a hefty 350km, he stopped 50km short of Halls Creek last night at around 7pm for two good reasons.
- A night time water crossing where his head torch spied a croc in the crossing. So he back tracked in a hurry and set up camp back a bit. Twice. Details why below.
- Council workers stopped him in his tracks to advise “Don’t go into Halls Creek at night”.
To all points. Eeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Camping.
Poor ole Willy.
He set up the bivvy after a bit of pseudo biffo with a croc AND half way through first set up he realises he’s chosen the well-known Aussie attraction, “Bindi World”, to snuggle into for the night.
So up comes the bivvy. FFS.
In his delirium after 400km of riding, he moves to where the grass is greener and less bindier.
Or burrier. Not sure what he said.
He called at around 12 my time from Halls Creek.
I couldn’t hear him for the crows.
I did hear him say “F*cking Crows”, though.
He described to me what could only be described as a scene out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie.
A million crows. Desolate. Dusty.
After hitting up the IGA for all and sundry he split the joint in extreme haste.
On his way out of town he had to swerve to the right as a lively character lunged at him whilst crossing the road.
I found this out when he called me at the turn off to Tanami Road before no reception for 200km.
“I just wanted to hear your voice again”.
Gulp.
J8sus Chr$st, Todd!
Ok. Some funny things and why these nutso events are worth it to him.
He had a camel leading the way on the track for a good 5km he says.
It just wouldn’t nick off!
The quicker Willy went, the quicker the camel went in front.
I, of course, said “Ha Ha As if”, I need pics.
And lo and behold, in our shared DropBox tonight are pics as per below.
Gorgeously bizarre!
That camel pic is getting framed on the morrow. Golly gee.
Should you walk into our house any time soon you will see it hanging on the illustrious Willy Wall of Fame.
Go Willy!
Back to business.
He’s presently just shy of a few KM into Billiluna.
He’ll lose time regardless because of waiting for things to open in the middle of nowhere i.e. Central Australia.
Not quite your 24 servo sort of thing out there.
Billiluna shops open at 9am.
I am quietly pleased as it means a forced rest for Willy.
The next stretch is more nutso than the last.
But he’ll smash it like a Sunday Breakfast Avo I am sure.
Right now?
He’s at the 1338km mark.
When he hits Billiluna he’ll be exactly half way.
Incredible.
Goooooooooo Willy!
This year you’re definitely going to make it.

And the other camel.
Go Toddles. Proud of ya old mate. Stay ????
What an incredible effort Todd. Good luck for the second half
What a spectacular Adventure, keep going Todd, massive effort to be half way, go get the other half mate…….
