Shhhh. Secret backpacking essentials that are bound to give Willy ‘the edge’. When he gets the sh*ts with it all.
Getting real now.
Willy’s off tomorrow at 6.22 am precisely.
There was a bit of last-minute faffing this morning and a sneaky warm-up ride to roll the legs over, per the Strava image below.
Back and forth. Back. And forth.
I think he’s lost already.

So tomorrow…
If you’re watching the dot from the start of the race and thinking – Jeez – they’re all going a bit slow – heads up, the first leg of this race from Brisbane to D’aguilar National Park is super brutal.
Willy will be eating up 5000m of climbing, all within the first 150km.
No ladders allowed.
Thank you to all the new sign-ups!
Expect exclusive images of feral camels, dingos, brown snake fights and other news from Willy on the run.
Here’s a quick video compilation below highlighting the fellows from Currumbin Cycles who’ve been incredible decking ole Willy out.
Let the “Race to the Rock” begin.
Thanks to Kane and Guy at Currumbin Cycles – and Mario for the supreme effort in taking footage of Willy’s last-ever training ride. Time-poor. Do not judge my editing abilaateees.
Heart of gold. Guts of steel. The Imodium will come in handy.
