THE BIG COCKATOO – LOOKS TERRIFYING TO ME.
PRAYERS ANSWERED. WILLY WALKS WITH THE ANGELS OF IPWR.
This lil dot watcher was worried about the state of the Willy nation so it was great to wake to see at around 3.30am he’d been smart enough to have a somewhat normal sleep until around 3 before pushing off with a few IPWR legends.
Enter Beetlejuice and Caveman.
The angels of IPWR 2022.
Well that’s my christening for them at least.
After a torturous start to this crazy IPWR ride, Willy found his rhythym and happiness today with these two fellows – even if it be just for today.
It may just be a fleeting encounter.
And tomorrow he may trail them like a bread crumb but today he felt the goods.
Willy loved to hear the stories of IPWR (Caveman a true veteran) and could not believe the pedalling strength of Beetlejuice.
“He’s a machine”.
It was noted that it would not be surprising if Beetlejuice, the gadget man extraordinaire, pulled out an espresso machine mid-ride.
Remiss not to mention another awesome bloke close by, struggling with a neck issue – Danny McDanFace/Subsonic/Danny. Hard as titanium. Still peddling. Amazing. Go Danny!
This IPWR is brutal.
BREAKFAST CURRY IN A HURRY AT KIMBA
So to the uninitiated, like Willy, the curry at Kimba is an IPWR tradition.
There’s no way he would have known this big little fact if he didn’t ride with Caveman and Beetlejuice today.
But curry for breakfast?
No judgement.
A LITTLE TRUCKY INSIDER GOSSIP
Willy recalls the disdain from truck drivers as the three of them make their way through the IPWR route from Widunna to Port Augusta.
You can imagine it in the cabin.
The two-way radio. Truckie to truckie.
“Check out these three wankers out front”
Beetlejuice, gadget man with a two-way, as brave and brazen as a crazy IPWR rider is, responds to let them know the three wankers out front can hear them.
“Hi there – you’re talking to one of the wankers now”.
Silence.
Hilarious.
CHECK OUT THE PROGRESS
10 days of riding.
The progress across Australia is quite impressive.
Hard bits to come.
But WOW.
THEY STOPPED AT IRON…SOMETHING?
I did zoom in. But I couldn’t quite make out the map name.
Beetlejuice was sitting right on top of it.
ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL
So another day on the Indy Pac and Willy is still determined to make it.
Day 10 and almost half way there.
Plan is to wake early and move into Melrose to collect a bike tyre to replace the one shredded on day three.
And then 200km+ off to Adelaide.
Can you believe it?
He’s almost half way there.
Keep on pedalling Willy Maykit!
Hi Willy, well not many people can say they’ve been thru Iron Knob, a place that has sent it’s iron ore once upon a time to where your Dad use to work the good ol’ Port Kembla steel works. Spirits have lifted Brother keep the line. Love Betty.
